Our Tufts Rocketry team blasted back into action with their semester kickoff launch at Pine Island, NY. We relaunched our competition rocket—the CubeSAT-Adorned Rocketry Masterpiece (CARM)—to give new members a behind-the-scenes glimpse on what goes into prepping a large scale rocket for a launch. This time around, we obsessively checked the wind speed and direction while angling the launch rail to ensure CARM didn’t take an unplanned “tree-top tour” over the river (lesson learned...).
In addition to CARM, we had a number of L1 certification flights. Out of the 8 launches we had that day, 5 soared flawlessly (CARM included!) while 2 partial successes still nailed their goals, racking up 6 total L1 certifications for this launch!
