With this year's SpaceVision conference hosted in Denver, Colorado—a high-altitude hotspot for aerospace innovation—our chapter was naturally excited to travel to the western state. Not only did we look forward to reconnecting with old friends (hi UNH), but we were also eager to network with fellow aerospace peers and industry professionals. At the event, we had the opportunity to learn about the future of space regarding communication systems, satellites, and healthcare.
We attended the research symposium, where we explored our peers' space-related projects on innovative rover designs, novel methods of building liquid rocket motors, and the use of CubeSats for environmental/earth science research. We also observed CU Sounding Rocket Lab's progress on their in-house solid and hybrid motor production. Additionally, we learned about space weather research from NOAA and delved into astrophysics—particularly recoiling supermassive black holes—with Dr. Ann Marie Maddigan.
Additionally, our CubeSat team, led by Vanessa Belloti and Andy Navarro, was awarded the prestigious Space for All Grant hosted by SEDS, Starfield, and XBOX. This recognition gave them the opportunity to showcase their project to other SEDS USA chapters, highlighting the hard work behind their efforts.
Overall, the experience we gained from attending this year's SpaceVision was invaluable and has even sparked our rocketry club to begin development of their own hybrid team—spearheaded by one of our rocketry lead, May Wildgrube. We are grateful for the opportunity to attend this year's conference and, given the chance, can't wait to participate in next year's conference!
